The Importance of Following Your Dreams

THE IMPORTANCE OF FOLLOWING YOUR DREAMS

What do YOU want to do? Who do YOU want to be? I’m not asking what job you want or what your parents, family, friends, teachers, etc. want you to be. I’m asking what would make YOU happy? What do you want more then anything? What makes you tick Think about it and really consider it while you read this. A dream is something that you want out of life. Something that you can see yourself accomplishing and being successful at. A dream is the first step when it comes to success or trying to accomplish a task that is seemingly impossible. Everyone has
dreams, whether or not they admit it, they do. Trust me. Me personally? I’m a dreamer, and I dream BIG. More importantly I take steps to achieve what it is I want out of life. You have to if
you want to get anywhere, especially in this day and age. It isn't enough just to kind of want something, you need to have a mental picture of what it is that you want to do or what it is you want to be. That’s your dream. No one is going to care about your dream the way you do. No one is going to put your dreams before theirs so you have to fight for what you want. So what are you going to do to pursue it?

IT ISNT ENOUGH TO WANT SOMETHING

Like I said it’s great that you have a dream, but it’s going to take way more then that if you want to turn it into reality. Nobody will take your dreams seriously if you don’t. Anything is possible these
days so just have faith in yourself. Everyone starts somewhere. Your dreams are just a starting point for success. First comes a dream and then comes everything else it’s a sequence that goes in
this order:

  1. Dreams- A dream is an idea and a realization. It starts out as a cherished ambition/ aspiration about something that is greatly desired.
  2. Hopes- Hope is where you start to come to the realization that your dream is truly possible.
  3. Goals- This is the formulation of a plan that turns your dream into reality. Your goals are the stepping stones that lead directly to the accomplishment of your ambition.
  4. Execution- This is the plan of attack (A call to action) and the commitment you set to see your dreams to fruition. The execution is where you experience the biggest struggle but you also see the most personal growth.
  5. Success- This where you actually get to bear the fruits of your labor and see how much you have grown as a person. This is the end goal for one dream and the beginning for the next.
Analyze what steps you’re going to take to make that happen.

Ever since childhood most people are told that they can do anything they want or be what they want to be. The sky is the limit right?? Well sadly most people seem to forget that after awhile. They start doing what everybody else is doing. What causes people to just settle? I cannot fathom why people just accept the fact that they work in an office or wash dishes at a restaurant. (I’m not saying anything to discredit these jobs, they are great jobs starting out but why settle for that when you can have anything you want?) We live in a world today where anything is possible I.e. Internet fame, graduating from college, owning a business, achieving your fitness goals, traveling the world, inventing something, the sky is the limit! What I’m saying is basically if you can dream it you can achieve it. Especially being in the United States, it’s the land of opportunity, literally the epitome of “you can do anything with a dream and a little bit of hard work.”

As far as the importance of having dreams goes it’s only as important as you make it. In my mind my dreams are everything. I would much rather be happy with my life and take a risk than the latter; get by and be miserable for 8–12 hours a day 5–7 days a week. My thought is this: life is already short. Put as much life in your years as possible. Your dreams should be the most important things to you. You should be willing to do whatever you aspire to do for free. Of course everyone wants to make money doing what they love but if you aren't willing to do what you love regardless of whether you are getting paid or not then it isn’t a true passion. There isn’t necessarily anything wrong with that, but I will tell you this: “There are a million reasons NOT to do something, all you have to do is find ONE reason to do it.” If that means you work for free until you establish yourself and learn the trade, so be it. My advice is to do whatever you’re passionate about for fun and to the best of your abilities. Don’t expect to make a living off of what you do right off the bat. Just focus on getting better and seize opportunities as they come. The best way to make more money, establish yourself, or to grow your business is to work on yourself. If you aren’t the person who can make 100K a year (or whatever your goal is) then work on becoming the person that can. The only person stopping you is yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself neither will anybody else.

As G-Eazy says “nothing tops making a living off your passion.”

Everyone seems to forget that people such as G-Eazy, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steve Cook, CT Fetcher, Roman Atwood, Casey Neistat, etc. (The people you look up to) are all very hard workers. Nobody sees the countless hours of work they put into everything they do. Nobody see’s all the times they failed at something. Nobody see’s how much struggle goes into what they do. All you see is the finished product. Outside looking in it might seem like things are easy for them because they’re living the life of their dreams. Just remember that they all worked very hard to achieve what they have and if you want the same success you’ll have to do the same.

At the end of the day it comes down to this; you could watch a million classes, listen to all the podcasts you want, and sit in a class room for 12 hours a day but NOTHING beats going out and doing. Even if you fail you’re going to end up better than you were before. Worst case scenario: Things don’t go as planned and you have to try again. The beauty of that is you literally have nothing to lose but time, and time is the most valuable thing that you have… Don’t give it up for nothing. Go out there and get started.
